Ensuring organizational compliance

An organization became concerned that its policies had fallen out of compliance with the governing regulations. Wilcox conducted research to develop a comprehensive understanding of applicable regulations. He then audited all existing policies and procedures and determined which needed to be changed or improved. With leadership’s consent, Wilcox implemented the changes and designed procedures to ensure compliance moving forward.

Providing needed training and professional development

An organization evaluated its staff’s professional development needs and developed a lengthy list of pieces of training that would be helpful. However, the training team lacked the bandwidth to execute the training quickly at a high level. Wilcox designed, prepared, and delivered training to staff, including but not limited to time, task, meeting, and email management. The sessions were well received, recorded, and added to the organization’s knowledge base for future onboarding.

Building new systems

An organization decided to market and sell a product it had never sold before. Wilcox was brought in to design an effective product sales program. He created a project plan and marketing strategy, worked with external vendors to develop a website and promotional materials, built an order processing system, and executed a prospecting strategy. The organization exceeded its target number of units sold in its first year.

Creating effective processes

An organization sought to create more effective two-way partnerships with peer organizations. Wilcox was asked to build an external relations capability from scratch. He conducted a review of different systems and recommended to leadership a strategy to use “moves management” (borrowed from fundraising best practices). Wilcox built a systemic process to identify the needs of partners and to build mutually-beneficial relationships and trust. This strategy ultimately became a core ethos of the organization.

Driving complex projects to completion

An organization needed a significant upgrade to its organizational database (CRM). Wilcox came on as the internal project lead. He worked with leadership to identify an external consultant who could recommend CRM products and drive implementation. Wilcox and the consultant liaised with each other, management, and key stakeholders to build out the product, manage data cleanup, design quality-control policies and processes, train staff, and implement a culture of data-driven decision-making.
