Serving as primary liaison on significant projects

An organization needed to move into a new, much larger office space. Wilcox performed the role of project lead. He liaised between leadership and the real estate vendor on timeline and budget, brought in stakeholders at appropriate times for reviews and key decisions, and traveled to the city regularly to perform onsite progress inspections. By all accounts, the office buildout, and move were successfully executed.

Surging to deliver high-priority objectives

An organization wanted to quickly seize an external opportunity but discovered its data was insufficiently organized to capitalize on it. Wilcox was asked to drive a high-speed data cleanup project. He created a project scope and timeline and promptly hired 15 temporary workers to research and clean up the records. He oversaw the management of the workers and developed a system of cross-vetting to ensure quality control. The project was completed on deadline and to the satisfaction of leadership.

Providing stopgap project management

An organization’s signature educational program was thrown into peril when its program director abruptly departed midway through the planning process. Wilcox was brought in to provide interim directorial duties and attempt to salvage the program. He worked with the program team to successfully design the curriculum, select participants, and execute the program to a high degree of success. Once a new program director was selected, Wilcox further assisted in training the new director to take over.

Triaging emergencies

An organization embarked on a brand and website re-launch. Two weeks from the highly-advertised launch date, it became clear that the launch was on track to fail. Wilcox was asked by leadership to assume responsibility for the project and attempt to bring it back on track. He audited the website and identified the highest-priority pain points, assigned essential tasks to appropriate staff members, and tracked progress to ensure completion. The new website launched on time and without notable incidents.

Leading rapid operational change

An organization decided to move from an office-only model to a remote-friendly model and needed to rapidly change its IT infrastructure to make seamless remote work possible. Wilcox worked with leadership and IT to craft a plan and timeline and identified an external partner with expertise in implementing new software. Wilcox oversaw the project and was the bridge between IT and the contractor on needs analysis, product identification, implementation, and training. The necessary changes were completed on time—and, fortuitously, just weeks before the COVID-19 shutdowns.
